I am having a issue with graphics .... every time I play games it crashes out.. the two I have tried is csgo and watch dogs...

my build:

i7 4770k with hyper 212 evo
msi z97 gaming 7
corsair pro vengence 16 gb 2400
geforce gtx 660 sc
xfx xtr 650 psu
rosewill blackhawk case
windows 8.1 pro

Without playing games I keep getting a message saying "display driver stopped responding...version 340.43..."
I tried the driver before the beta and was doing the same thing..

When I tested gpu with furmark it gave opengl error code 3

prime95 all night ran fine, cpu temp at 65

any ideas!? thanks guys

no one I can borrow from...

What I am thinking is taking the gtx 660 out and using the integrated graphics to see if I have the issue... or I can try another PCI E slot to see if the mobo is bad... but I am not sure.

Before I send back the gtx 660 I want to make sure that it is indeed that hardware..

Does that sound like a good plan?

I installed windows, updated the bios, then started installing drivers, mobo, graphics card, etc... I hope that is the right way..

How would I test the psu? On the back of the psu there are different inputs.. would one of those be bad?

It should not be a bad mobo or something wrong with the processor? .. just trying to narrow it down.

thanks by the way for your time!

no... I ran prime95 all night and when I went to it this morning cpu temps were at about 65 (according to realtemp)

so either psu or gpu.. no way to test psu directly?

So I switched my graphics card from my PCIE slot 2 (like the msi manual said) to the PCIE slot 1, and now everything seems to be working good!?

Do you think the graphics card just needed to be re seated or something, or maybe the power to the card had to be re seated.... or a bad mobo?

I am now going to try to switch it back to slot 2 and see what happens...

Still no go... It seemed to work a little better after I switched slots but still crashing... I was also reading the manual for my mobo... I orginally had it in the wrong slot. I thought the pci2 slot was the second bigger pcie slot (not including the smaller pcie slot). But it meant the Second slot down (so the first biggest slot) anyways.... When I play csgo or watchdogs the driver crashes. After playing for a while. During csgo the screen turns black for about 5 secs the the game recovers. With watchdogs the game closes and I get the display driver is not responding and has recovered error. Both these issues happen after about 30 mins of use. ... I watched my temps and never really seems to get hot. Cpu stays at about 50-55 and gpu about 60-65. I tried the most recent driver and the beta driver and samething. .. I just want to get all this figured out before I am stuck with all the parts (before Amazon return policy expires)... Thanks everyone!
