Alright... so my laptop is taking a dump and I'm questioning whether or not to just splurge and assemble a PC. Doesn't need to be anything awesome, most demanding things I tend to run are DotA 2 and CK2. Anyone feel like weighing in on what I've got picked? PS, why does Canada get shafted so hard on the cost of parts?

That's a pretty decent build - that PSU is junk, you'll definitely want to get something better like a Seasonic G or a EVGA Supernova. Thermaltake PSUs are definitely not known for quality. Otherwise the rest of that build looks good to me.

Yeap, apart from the PSU, I have nothing to add. D:

You don't need the TP-LInk network card as motherboard already has a Gigabit network port.

PSU : EVGA 100-W1-0500-KR $34.99 after $10 rebate
SSD : Kingston SV300S37A/120G $69.95

Have choose price over performance, if you have the extra $$, then a Samsung 840 EVO is my choice of SSD.

EVGA makes a lot of good PSUs - their G2s are some of the best on the market, but their low end power supplies are terrible - they're low end HEC units and should not be touched. And those Kingston SSD Now drives - the only redeeming quality these drives have is the low price, otherwise, they're outdated Sandforce 2.0 units. If you're buying an SSD that cheap, pay the extra $20 and get a Samsung 840 Evo - much better.

This is what I would suggest:

- Antec Earthwatts: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E1681...
