Intel Core i7-4770K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor
Asus Z87-K ATX LGA1150 Motherboard
Crucial Ballistix Sport XT 4GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
MSI Radeon R9 280X 3GB TWIN FROZR
SS-650KM3 PSU

I've just a bought a new graphics card (used) upgrading from sapphire 7770 and it seems only when I plug in the HDMI but not with VGA I get 1 long beep and 3 short beeps. Apart from that there seems to be no error I've still properly stress test. I've looked this up online and cant find any reason why I'd getting these beeps but with no other noticeable problems. I never got this with the old graphics card.

1L+3S beeps normally means video card not being detected in the slot.

Pull it out, give slot a blow of air, clean connectors on video card with a rubber, cleaning off any residue.

PSU more than capable at power the R9.
