hi, this is my first build and i was wondering if anyone can point out any mistakes with my hardware choice, any incompatibilities, improvements that i can make etc.... my main goal is to play new games (battlefield 4, bioshock, witcher 2, also i know it's not new but skyrim with a ton of mods) in high-ultra settings with good frame rates, all with a budget just under 900$.
this is my setup:

CPU: AMD FX-8350 4.0GHz 8-Core

CPU Cooler: Scythe SCMG-4000 79.0

Motherboard: Asus M5A99FX PRO R2.0 ATX AM3+

Memory (ram) : G.Skill Sniper Low Voltage Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600

Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM

Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 760 2GB Superclocked ACX

Case: Rosewill REDBONE U3 ATX Mid Tower

Power Supply: Corsair 650W ATX12V / EPS12V

Optical Drive: Samsung SH-118BB DVD/CD Drive.

thank you in advance

Also if you don't want to overclock we could change a few things to get a faster video card and an SSD. The ram you could just run at ddr3 1600 with a CAS of 8.

but won't the ram keep crashing at such speed?
also the video card you listed requires 600 watts of power while the psu you listed is only 550
please explain to me the basis that i have to go with when choosing a psu because i'm still a little confused and scared of frying my circuits
also can the hardware in my list run the gigabyte radeon R9 280 3gb you listed ?

No, it shouldn't crash at its rated speeds. The motherboard supports upto ddr3 3200 with an OC.
