Hi All,

Stayed up late last night completing my first ever pc build. Here's the list:

Mobo: Asus Z97-A
CPU: Intel i5 4670k
Cooling: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo
GPU: EVGA Geforce GTX 770 2GB SC
Storage: Samsung 840 EVO SSD 120G + WD Black HDD 1TB @7200RPM
RAM: 2 x Kingston HyperX Blu 4GB DDR3
Power: Corsair CX600M 600 watt modular PSU

I was able to pretty uneventfully complete the build, and install windows 8 from a usb drive. I turned the computer off and on many times during the build process in order to make sure it worked, change the boot order in my BIOS, etc.
When installing windows 8, my computer rebooted a few times as you would expect. After windows was finished installing and my comp rebooted, I got a message that my motherboard had detected a power surge from an unstable power unit, and had tripped it's anti-surge failsafe. I assumed it was a fluke, and restarted my machine. It booted normally and I was able to experience cringe-worthy windows 8, lucky me. At this point I shut down my machine once more while I checked to see if my mobo came with a wireless internet card (it doesn't).
I plugged in an ethernet cable and hit the power button. The fans and LEDs came on -- and then suddenly went off. I tried the power button, no response. It hasn't worked since. My beautiful new computer will not boot. I did take off the case cover and saw that the power LED on the mobo is on, and I tried hitting the motherboard power switch. The ASUS logo came up on my screen momentarily, but with no instruction to press f2 or del for bios. Then the screen went black and displayed the 'No signal' message.

Please help me guys, I'm miserable! I don't want this to be a 1000 dollar failure, what could be wrong, or what steps could I take to find out and fix the problem?

Thanks for responding! I tried what you reccomended and sure enough it booted up. I did get some weird behavior though... it booted, I saw the windows welcome screen, then it restarted. It did this two more times until I saw a message saying "Windows didn't load correctly" and it prompted me to restart or try to 'repair'.. i went to the repair options and shut it down.
