I've had my laptop for 7 months, recently it's hard drive failed, I went and replaced it, and now I installed everything again but my new hard drive makes this weird quiet clicking sound, all the time, especially if it's loading something. I though it could be from a driver, because this time when I installed my drivers I installed a couple more that I forgot the last time but I tried to uninstall them, it keeps making the sound. It really drives me crazy. It's not as loud as some corrupt hard drive samples I've heard but it's pretty annoying.

Solution
hard drive clicking is purley an internal mechanical issue, so it has nothing to do wiht drivers. Its possible it was rough handled durring shipping.

You will have to call up your laptop OEM and tell them of the problem, hopefully they will warranty it now instead of waiting for it to fail. In the mean time I would keep all important files backed up as frequetly as possible. If you dont want to deal with the OEM, you can buy your own hard drive (or even better get an SSD drive if you dont need all of the space). You can either get your OEMs recovery disks or use a standard windows cd, if you go with the windows cd you will need to go to the OEMs website and download all of your drivers.

If you had a hard drive failure in 7 mo, and then you receive a noisey hard drive, my first thought is that the OEM is using cheap hard drives. I would be prepaired for another drive failure, if you are "lucky" it will fail while still under warranty.

What is the brand and model of your laptop?
