Hello, I recently finished building my own computer and so far everything has been great except for the problem mentioned in the title. I'm using the same headset i used on my old computer and they worked fine on there. The first solution i found was to have the volume control on my headphones REALLY low and maximize the computers volume, but then I was told by friends when doing a skype call that they can hear a static noise coming from me and occasionally the noise will spike to be super loud that i have to leave the call because it's unbearable (I could never hear it when it spiked, only the people in the call could.) I went and tried a really cheap $10 pair of headphones and the sound stopped, but obviously i'd much rather use my $100 set if there's a fix for the problem. I tried purchasing a sound card (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=6747501&CatId=4261) and a usb hub (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182212) but the problem still remained and also the microphone on my headset wouldn't work when plugged into the sound card.

MY parts in case any of them are related to the problem:
Motherboard: MSI 970A-G43 AM3+
cpu: AMD FX-6300 Vishera 6-Core 3.5GHz
gpu: PowerColor AXR7 260X 1GBD5-DH/OC Radeon R7 260X 1GB 128-Bit GDDR5
Psu: CORSAIR CXM series CX600M 600W
Ram: HyperX XMP Blu Red Series 8GB (2 x 4GB)

It seems to me like the fault's with your headset. If your $10 headset works fine then it must be a problem with the headset itself.
I'd contact customer support for whatever manufacturer your headset is, they might be able to give you advice if it's a common issue with their product or offer a replacement if it's faulty.
