Hi,

Would anyone be able to advise how I can lower the voltage on my 5770 GPU (to reduce heat and therefore fan noise) please?

I have catalyst 13.4 which does not appear to have a voltage setting.

MOBO is Ausu Z87K (couldnt find it in the bios though, but I may not have been looking in the correct place).

Thanks in advance for assistance

Catalyst and BIOS do not have voltage control for GPUs (As you've already noticed). You should use software to change the voltage.

MSI Afterburner is probably the most popular one.

I like Sapphire TRIXX too, it is what I am currently using to lower the voltage on my card. Admittedly I am only using it because Afterburner didn't work for my specific video card.

Using those programs you can change the voltage and set the program to apply your changes on windows startup.

There is no guarantee that your video card has voltage control, there are some that don't, or where the voltage is only modifiable through flashing the GPU's bios (Not...

I've found with AMD cards that you may need to run msconfig.exe and disable Catalyst Control Center from starting up at windows start, as it can set your voltage back to default if it starts after MSI Afterburner/Sapphire TRIXX (or whatever program you use).

Thank you natedawg, just what I was looking for, I used Afterburner.

Undervolted 5770 from 1200 (stock) to 1025, temps when running furmark now top out at 79 degrees. At stock voltage they reached 90 before I stopped the test and the temps were still rising quite rapidly.

Lower voltage appears to be stable at the moment but if not I can raise it one more notch and still achieve a reasonable under-volt.

Thanks again
