Using one TV instead of two computer monitors

I'm trying to figure out how to use one flat screen TV to replace both of my computer monitors in my home office. Basically is it possible to have the TV either register two HDMI inputs simultaneously in a split screen type format or is there some type of software or graphics card that would allow the computer to send one signal to be sent to the TV that would contain both images? I have not purchased the TV yet and don't really care about the cost.

Thanks

Is there a special reason you need to have a split screen on the HD tv? If you have Windows 8 you could just drag each program to the side you want it to and it will snap in place, so you would essentially have a 2 monitor set up with one HD signal.

I do not know of any TV that will accept two HDMI's at the same time and display side by side nor do i know of a program that will do it for you.
