MSI R9 270X Hissing

Sounds not like the fan but the inductors aka coils, most cards that have weak or defective coils make such noises even under minimal loads. For those still in hardware pre-school a inductor coil is part of the VRMs that drive the gpu and memory that act as boosters providing the needed current after a capacitor discharges. If the coils go bad they no longer provide the current needed and things go bad. If a coil shorts out it can burn the card or if a coil goes open there is no current flow at all. If the caps go bad or a weak the coils will eventually fail. They do not like extreme heat due to insulation breakdown and some ferrite shielded inductors run pretty hot to begin with and fail the most often.

I think I may have figured it out. There was a small wire inside the fan that wasn't properly tucked in and it was touching the fan when it moved around. I tucked it back in and it seems to work for now. Anyone know if this will be a recurring issue?
