A while back I was playing a game when my computer just died. I heard the fans go crazy and then the computer just turned off and wouldn't turn back on. I figured this was probably a power supply issue and replaced it, this time with a higher voltage than the previous one. However, now I have the following problem:

When I'm playing a game other than just few, non-graphical intensive games such as Minecraft or League of Legends, the computer just "sleeps" after an hour or two of playing. I put sleeps in quotations because it doesn't actually sleep like how it would if you put it into sleep mode where you can resume by pressing a button; instead, the screen just goes black and there is no sound, but the computer remains on. I have to manually turn it off and back on again to fix the problem.

Is this a problem with the power supply (it is a cheap brand) or is this linked to the first problem I had? In other words, should I buy a new power supply, or do you think it is caused by something else?

I have tried to search as much as I could for solutions, but the problem is that I don't really know how to describe my problem to Google without being so specific that I don't get any relevant results. Any help, whether an answer or just a place to start searching, would be appreciated. Thanks.

You should try checking you cpu tmp and using a logging application, it might be a heat related problem.

A cheap and poor quality power supply leads to many instability issues.

Get a XFX or SEASONIC , EVGA G2 , Corsair HX or AX supply.
