Unable to Format Unallocated Space

I am having the exact same issue as the guy in this old thread:

The difference is that I have Windows Vista Home Premium x64 SP2. From what I understand Larger than 2TB drives will work on 64-bit Vista.

I downloaded Paragon Partition Manager 2014 and it is unable to really do anything with that space as well.

If I have to reformat the drive somehow, that is not really a great solution, as this drive is serving as my current C: (OS) drive.

Any help is appreciated.

The MBR partition scheme shoul handle up to 2.2 Tb of space. Beyond that, it must be converted to GPT. But try with both and see what you get. Try to handle the formating and the partitioning with Acronis Disk Director.
