I have 2 bose 201 series 3's which i got for free, so to all the haters, these are great for free. lol and I'm looking for a subwoofer, and some front main speakers to add to them? I'm currently using them are rear speakers in my bedroom on my bookshelves. I know bose goes better with bose so help me out.. i love the 3D sound that bose speakers can replicate even if it is just a parlor trick on the timing of the frequencies, i think its great and it sounds good to me, so i want to replicate it. I'm considering:
2 Front, bose 301 series 5 speakers for the front of my room and a polk subwoofer
or
2 bose 161 speakers in the front and I don't know what to use for the center?? this would also have some form of subwoofer. I need a tight, responsive base that can cater to classical to edm in an accurate signal.

Buying used would be a great choice especially if you have a stereo store in town to hear them before buying.

You might consider 3 of these: https://www.parts-express.com/dayton-audio-b652-6-1-2-2-way-bookshelf-speaker-pair--300-652

I'm not a Bose hater(expect maybe the 901 series). I just think they are over priced in terms of value.

Classical music needs some good speakers and amps. It is the most demanding for music replication.

As a center channel option this would probably be the best speaker in your setup. http://www.crutchfield.com/p_760IMG...herry.html?showAll=N&search=image_c4&skipvs=T

I am a Bose hater, lol. I will say this, there is a reason Bose does not publish the frequency response specs on their speakers. I will leave it at that. Anyway with your budge it is going to be tough. Take a look at these, I think they are very good speakers on the cheap:

If you can spend a little more, I like these:

well.. I just purchased the bose 301 series 5, and the bose 161 bookshelf speakers, along with a sony 7.2 receiver with all the bells and whistles along with a polk 8" subwoofer to go along with my bose 201 sereis 3 which I received for free while cleaning someones garage. None the less, the entire set up cost me $250 after i bought the subwoofer. Annndddd i couldn't be anymore pleased. Its definitely a lotta much for my bedroom (11x13) but hey, why not. Im waiting on the 301's to be delivered (second hand of course), but ill let you know what i think of them when they arrive next monday.
