Hey guys! I've had my pc for a long time and I want to buy some upgrades so I can play Bf4, Borderlands the pre-sequel (when it comes out), and next gen titles on the highest settings with 60+ fps. I'm a nursing student trying to pay for college so I'm on a budget like everyone else. Any advice is welcome :)

Links to all my parts (This was my first build so go easy on me lol):

Best upgrade would be to upgrade the gpu to a r9 280x. Your cpu is still good, motherboard will still work. PSU has enough power to power 2 cards in SLI/Crossfire. If you're running a single card set up right now, best choice would be to an r9 280x, but it wont run every game 60fps at 1080p maxed. But on the two games listed, it should give you 60fps in battlefield 4 for sure. Borderlands the pre sequel won't have anything on it for sure until it's released, but i'd imagine it'd be ultra 30fps+.

Trying to get stable 60 on modern games is a little tricky with modern game devs not seeming to be interested in optimizing their products, instead letting the two warring GPU manufacturer's AMD and Nvidia rush to release drivers for free.

For $300 you aren't going to get what you're looking for. You could try making sure your airflow is optimized to reduce temperatures and possibly get a better CPU cooler to try overclocking the 2500k (It's made to overclock extremely well). The 580 would also be a good idea to overclock a little for a tiny increase of performance but they're both high-end components for the time they were released. Unfortunately this means they're expensive to replace with something that you'll plug into your computer and go "WOW."

I believe the biggest upgrade would be a GPU. I'd personally recommend the EVGA Superclocked GTX 770 2GB version which is a bit over your budget but will hopefully get you closest to your goal.

Do you think it would be a good idea to just wait for the 800 series gpu's to come out so prices will drop?

Prices don't really drop too much as far as I see. If you're already willing to pay something for whats out currently. Whatever comes out next gen at the same price point should be better by a tad bit I'd imagine, and should probably go with that instead. Of course, drivers and what not would be a bit buggier in the beginning, but that's how things will start. If you want to wait for the 800 series I'd just go with maybe an 800 series. Otherwise, stuff that's out now, can still run everything fine. Just my thoughts on this.
