We have moved houses recently and previously we had similar maybe 1-2mbps differences when we were on virgin media now we are on sky and have fibre pro but he is getting speeds of 40 mbps and iam stuck at 5 the uploads on mine are slightly higher than his but apart from that my downloads are so much lower, my laptop is pretty new i bought it 1 and half years ago and his is about the same age. My laptop used to get much higher speeds than my phone with virgin about 10mbps but now i get like 5x lower when my phone gets 25mbps i need to find out why my laptop has such low speeds i dont have any viruses i have malwarebytes pro and have ran a scan very recently i mainly just play league on laptop and browse the net

Would like to add this is similar to the last thread but i picked a solution which worked but only for a while everytime i reinstall the drivers i have high dl speeds for about 30 mins to an hour then its back to the very low dl speeds but the upload stays the same regardless of the dl

THis is slightly hard to follow but....

Firstly, try your speeds on an ethernet cable to make sure it's just a wireless issue.

2ndly what router do you have and what standards does it support? a/b/g/n/ac, you may find your phone is operating in the 5ghz band and your laptop is not.

3rd.. what are you using to test downlaod speeds? speedtest.net?

If both your laptop and router support 5ghz you can set the laptop to chose 5ghz over 2.4ghz.

If you are using wireless G you typically wont get speeds faster than 20mb max.
You may need to try changing your wireless channel.
