I just bought and build my very own rig for the first time. I'm using an Intel 4790k CPu (no OC), being cooled by a corsair H100i. I got 2 intake fans in the case, and 1 outtake fan (excluding the 2 h100i vents).

Idle my temp is at 35 degree, starting up watchdogs my temp instantly goes from 35 to 80. and when I close watchdogs it instantly goes down again. Tho I have noticed this happens whenever I use alot of programs or any other games.

All the fans are spinning, and there is thermal paste (the h100i pre-applied). I dont know what to do now. i tried setting H100i on performance mode, that did not make a difference.

My ideas are that 1) the paste is poor. 2) H100i is sitting wrong 3) i read somthing about voltage being able to cause high heat that cant be cooled externally.
Also wondered if it might be the Haswell chip http://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/report-intel-haswell-processors-prone-to-overheating/#!bdpj9m

My Case is 750D
Hope anyone can help

Solution
Hello:

Solution: Even tho the cooler was firmly applied and did not move an inch, the problem was caused by the standoffs, they were too short, and thus there was a 0.2 cm space vetween the chip plate and the cooler. I bought 4x rubberwashers and tighten the loose h100I backplate. my temps does not exceed 50 degree now. i used nuctual paste and pea method.

I attached a screenshot in my main post. The paste was the pre-applied h100i paste.

it is at 80, and spikes 90, when im not tabbed out

My case is the corsair 750D

from your pict i can see that you OC 4.3 and your voltage is 1.3284

with that kind of voltage I'm suprise you didn't hit 100

- another thing .. WatchDog game is CPU hogggg ... will get your temp way up too

you don't OC but you might have hit auto boot or Advance (depend on mother board)

this is my temp on air

4.4 - idle 1.173v and the temp around 32 .. fluctuate to 45 max .. but the average is 33
4.4 - full load - 1.224v temp around 62 fluctuate 78 max the average is around 69

4.5 idle 1.20v .. temp 34
4.5 full load 1.25v temp around 74 and max is 87

so as you can see ... everything on this CPU is your Voltage. the lower your voltage then the better the temp will be

just check your OC .. i know you not but some mother board set auto boot for 4790K ,, might be in your Bios
and if you turn on one of the auto tune program .. that also might accident OC your CPU ..

i know you don't OC ... but play with the auto program your mother board came with might be fun and also set your OC or Not OC correctly

remember Voltage is the key here
