I have a choice between these two CPUs and i was wondering if one was better than the other. The i5 4690k is €20 more expensive. Also, I know that a good motherboard to go with the i5 3570k is the Asus P8Z77-V LX but what about the i5 4690k? I probably will want to overclock. Thanks

The 4690K is much better. The old IvyBridge chips like the 3570K were too hot, hard to oc, etc.
You're definitely better off with the 4690K, which should be decently faster at the same clock aswell.

I normally avoid low-end boards when it comes to oc'ing so I can't comment on what would compare
to the P8Z77-V LX. Usually I'd recommend one of the ROG series, or at least something like the Z97-PRO
(Wi-Fi ac) or Deluxe. If I was buying though, I'd get the Ranger or Hero. I guess it depends how well
you want it to work, what features you need, etc.

Oh, I didn't know that the P8Z77-V LX was low-end. I really need to do more research into this area. Thanks for the suggestions though.

All the LX models of any generation are at the lesser end of the ASUS range. Use their product
comparison option to compare different model features, and of course also check reviews of
each board for general oc potential.

I've done some looking around. What about the MSI Z87 MPower Max? I looked at the ASUS Maximus VI Hero C2 and ASUS SABERTOOTH Z87 also. All are in my price range. Any suggestions?

Yup, and personally I wouldn't touch MSI boards.

If it were my money though, I'd ge a Z97 and be properly up to date.
