I have new computer, Asus Vivobook, 8.1 pro. I want to transfer programs from my old computer to my new one, however it won't let me. I keep getting this error message - "Something is wrong with the internet please try again later. Error finding servers."

I do not need to be online to install programs. Would sure appreciate some help! I am wishing I had stuck to Windows 7.

How are you trying to 'transfer programs'?

You can transfer data - copy and paste via USB.

But you'll need to re-install applications so that all the links they need are in place. Some of your applications also might not be made for Windows 8.1

I am trying to transfer programs, yes. I have moved them from my old laptop to an external hard drive. I have done this a few times before with my other computers and had no problem, but for some reason it is not working with Windows 8.

I also have tried to redownload them from online and still I cannot install them.

I am able to transfer data,no problem, I can also transfer programs, however I cannot install them. I keep getting that error message, which is crazy to start with and even crazier because I am actually connected to the internet when I get it.

Were the games on c:\ and you're transferring them to another c:\?

Does the new drive have the exact same directory structure as the old drive?

Were the games for Windows 7 on the old pc and Windows 7 on the new pc?

Is the new pc connected to the internet?
