Oldish custom build. Had a graphics card failure (burned out) replaced it and system only boots 1 in 5 times.

Have an old haswell i5, Gigabyte GA-H55M-UD2H mobo, AMD R9270X, Antec PSU that worked fine with a similar wattage GPU previously. Not sure what the problem is but when attempting to boot about 4 out of 5 attempts system idles with power to all fans but no display and then system restarts after 20-30 seconds.

Same issue without the GPU. I don't know the wattage of the PSU unfortunately. I'm not comfortable enough with hardware to really take it apart myself and the information isn't visible.

As I mentioned I used to have a Nvidia gtx 760 than ran for months and from what I'm aware the new card has a similar wattage requirement. Also if this was the problem naturally it would boot without the GPU.

When the system does boot it runs fine, I'm typing to you on it now.

Not sure what is is man, but sounds like psu or motherboard. Do you have a spare psu so you can test (without gpu ofcourse)?

EDIT: Just saw you are not comfortable with hardware.. maybe there is a local PC shop that can first just test your psu?
