Splitter and extender : 3pin or 4pin ?

I will have my motherboard ( Asus Z97 ROG ) voltage-control two external 3pin-fans. I will have those two fans connected to a 2x splitter, then that splitter connected to an extender to reach one fan header on my board.

Now all the headers on my board are 4pin-headers.
Do I go with :

- (2x)3pin---3pin splitter, or (2x)3pin---4pin splitter ?

- 3pin---3pin extender, 3pin---4pin extender, or 4pin---4pin extender ?

Let me draw it :

( case 1, two 3pin-fans are connected to ) (2x)3pin---3pin + 3pin---3pin ( connected to 4pin-fan header )

( case 2, two 3pin-fans are connected to ) (2x)3pin---3pin + 3pin---4pin ( connected to 4pin-fan header )

( case 3, two 3pin-fans are connected to ) (2x)3pin---4pin + 4pin---4pin ( connected to 4pin-fan header )


Any idea ?

You lost me on your description :)  3-pin fans can be used with 3-pin or 4-pin connectors on mobo and splitters. I don't know the power requirements of the fans you're connecting, but as long as you don't overload the header, any of those solutions will work. Most mobo headers can handle up to 1A.
