Hi

What is your motherboard ?
do research if it supports hard disks over 2TB

Win XP 64 pro is closely related to Windows Server 2003
Do You have the service packs installed ?

this microsoft FAQ says NO unless using GPT partitioning (requires Vista or latter)
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2581408

this site discusses ways round problem

http://carltonbale.com/how-to-break-the-2tb-2-terabyte-...

Do you need 1 x 4TB or will one or two 2TB drives be big enough ?
Will they be internal or external.

Internal backup hard drive does not protect you against much beyond failure of another drive

If motherboard is it PCI-e a usb 3.0 controller card can be fitted for an external usb 3.0 drive
or esata can be used for external drives

And don't forget that you need to take special steps to ensure that the partition(s) are aligned with the 4K sectors. XP is not 4K aware.
