Hello,

I know there is plenty of threads for this topic already, but I just wanted to ask a few extra questions about the process.

First off, I'm running a 120GB Samsung 840 evo for my Operating System
and a 2TB Toshiba DT01ACA200 for most of my programs and games, both of which are in IDE.

After reading around I have found that you should change the 'start' value to '0' for
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Msahci and
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\IastorV. Are these the only registry changes required for me to successfully boot into AHCI?

Also, if I change these registry values and it for whatever reason doesn't work in AHCI, will I no longer be able to boot back up in IDE either, or do both sets of drivers stay enabled?

More about : switching ide ahci

It has to do with what drives are installed. If your in IDE mode then you have the IDE Drivers. If you change the registry and AHCI doesn't work just change it back to IDE and it should boot right back up. Usually going from AHCI to IDE requires nothing for you to do but going the other way does.
