hello when i try to open a game that is installed on my PC i get this error " The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application"
How can i fix this?

My operating system mis windows 7 professional 64 bit.

Solution
I guess I am just not sure what the issue is. A reinstall of the OS and games might just be faster than trying to figure out the cause.

0xc000007b is a error in the image file format. most often it will be a mismatch where you are attempting to run a 64 bit .dll on a 32 bit system

or you have 64.bit dll in the wrong directory and a subsystem is attempting to load them as 32 bit files.

if all your games get this error, you most likely have a shared dll in the wrong directory.

I would be looking at uninstalling any old c runtime libraries and looking for a updated package
which one will depend on the name of the file listed.

I don't quite understand what you meant . Where will I go to uninstall them will it be add and remove programmes? And what would there specific file names be and what do you mean by "a updated package
which one will depend on the name of the file listed."?

basically, lots of games share code between games. The shared code is installed before the game is installed but is not removed when the game is uninstalled. Some games may install old versions over the top of a newer version of the shared code.

hopefully it will be listed in the uninstall programs as something like
Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 x86 Redistributable. it that is the case, you would uninstall it and reinstall it directly from microsoft http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2019667

It is hard to tell you which one you would need because it depends on the library that the game you are attempting to run is actually using.

(note x86 = 32bit version)

So if i was to remove all the x86 would that fix it? Because i have:

-Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable i have to named like that

-Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable - x86 and x64 but i have 3 x86

-Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 x86 and x64 Redistributable

-Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Redistributable x86 and x64

-Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable x64 and x86

But underneath that there is one called Microsoft Visual j Redistributable Package - SE (x64)

I have uploaded a screenshot of them here : http://prntscr.com/426wg8

I also formated my pc the day before yesterday

if you reinstalled windows then you might just want to uninstall some of the visual c++ redistributables and reinstall them. You also want to make sure you get all the windows updates. Sorry, I can not tell which one has the problem, generally it is with the older ones. Depending on which game you are running.

Ok so i will just uninstall all of them and then reinstall all of them and if that does not work i will check for windows updates. Thank you for all your help so far, i will let you know if it worked

you want the windows updates anyway. some of the fixes might be required for everything to work correctly.

Thank you for the help i have reinstalled windows but that did not work so i just ended up reformating my PC because i didn't have too much on it so it was the best time to do so. That has fixed the problem, Thanks again
