Sup brahs, so I've currently got 760 sli, but it's not doing it for me performance wise, as I'm getting like 30-40 frames maxed on shogun 2.

I was gonna do 290 cfx but after watching that tech of tomorow video of how noisy it is on 75% load it kinda put me off them... and I'm kinda frustrated on what to get, any recommendations? Thanks

If I am not mistaken, Shogun 2 does not effectively use many cores.
It seems to be gated by the speed of one individual core.
Other strategy games like CIV-5 are similar.
It looks in task manager that many cores are in use, but what you see is windows distributing the activity of one thread evenly.
What is your cpu?

I do not know if S2 can use dual gpu's, but that is another possibility.

Yea I think your right,

The SLI support is okay I guess, it isn't great, it randomly dips lowly into 10-20 fps and then back up to 40-60 in big maxed battles. Still, I was really settled on getting CF as I can get them for about 130 squid each on ebay, and sell my 760s for 150 each, but the heat and noise has caught me with my pants down...

I like the app that is showing the cpu usage, what is it?

If your game is shogun 2, I suggest you change out the cpu.
I think that you would do massively better with a G3258 and a conservative oc.
Use a Z97 motherboard that has sli capability. It need not be otherwise expensive.
Here is one review:

The cpu is so cheap that you can almost throw it away if you ever want to upgrade to a 4690K or even a future 14nm broadwell cpu.
