hi can u pls help me connect my daughters allfine minibook to my wifi? I don't have a wifi icon on the main screen but I do have the RT28701 settings which I can click on if I go to the icon which is situated in the bottom right hand corner.
I can find my wifi device listed on RT28701 & I can click on my wifi name to connect to the internet... BUT its now the problem arises!!!
It says to connect, so I do & then it says..STATUS is...Scanning...then its..Associating with my wifi & that the SIGNAL STRENGTH is...Excellent...BUT then it says...STATUS...Not Connected & that there is...No Signal????
I'm confused as I've read the user manual a few times & can't find my problem anywhere?
I'm not a techno person but in the manual it shows a wifi icon on the screen which u click on & it says turn the wifi on?
We haven't got this icon on our screen so can u pls tell me if the wifi has already been enabled & that its already turned on?
I'm at a loss & don't have any friends who I can ask about this problem...
PLS can someone help me sort this problem out, as I bought this mini laptop for my daughter 2 months ago now & shes STILL waiting to use it!! lol I would appreciate ANY advice with resolving this issue....Many Thanks...Nikki x

are you putting in your wifi password that will be on the side of the router? Also have you tried to run your internet through the lan port that is on the back of the minibook you will not need to put any passwords in as it is a direct link through the router

The icon is a shortcut to the executable file for the application interface. You can find the file in the programs folder to place the icon or uninstall and reinstall in a normal system but this is a Windows CE system I know nothing about. It sounds like you found the file but someone may have deleted the icon to get you to buy a better USB wireless Ethernet adapter. An actual connection may also require a password that you can't enter without the application.

Windows CE is pretty old, it may not be compatible with the WiFi security you are using. As a test, set your WiFi to no security and try to connect to that. If it works, you can try different ones till you find one that works. WPA should work, but it's pretty weak as a security standard now.
