Best cpu cooler

Hi
What is the best cpu cooler under $50. I know the 212 EVO is very popular but is so cheap and it seams that it will not allow very good over clocking. I need to be able to overclock to 4.5ghz or more.
Thanks

Hyper 212 EVO - we have that and our i7 3770K is overclocked to 4.6 GHz. Fine temps.
  2. Thanks for te quick reply. Ok I am getting the i5 3570k. Will that work for it and to overclock to 4.5+ghz
  3. Well knowing your CPU would help to see if 4.5 is reasonable with whatever cooler. Personally my 3570k is at 4.5 with the evo. Even got it to 4.7 but decided to tone it down
  4. Haha alright well not every CPU will OC the same but I managed to do what you want with the same parts so that should be encouraging
  5. Ok thanks
Also is this motherboard capable of doing this?
    Asus Z77-A ATX LGA1155 Motherboard
  6. It's a z77 chipset so yeah, I have an asus board too and found the bios to be prett easy to use
  7. Thanks for the help. Do you know if I get an OS will I be able to install it on muiltiple computers.

4.5 or 4.6 GHz sounds reasonable and attainable. The temps curve is non-linear and IVY Bridge heats up quickly at higher clocks (OC). Get the Hyper 212 EVO and stay at 4.5 GHz, check temps at idle (12 to 15 degs over ambient) and at load (68 to 72 degs C). If you are below these temps, go up to 4.6 GHz.

OS on multiple computers? No. Only on ONE computer.
  10. Ok thanks what are the average temps per clock and what is max temp?
  11. Thanks for all the help

On my i7 3770K overclocked to 4.6 GHz (Hyper 212 EVO heatsink) the idle temps are around 32 degs C (ambient 22 degs C), and load temps are around 66 degs C with some spikes at 72 degs C.

Temps and overclocks will vary depending on the CPU you get. Hundreds of dies are cut from the large silicon wafer, and depending on the location of the die on the wafer, some CPUs will overclock better than others. Luck of the draw!
  13. actually you can installl windows ( whatever ) in a desktop AND a laptop
