I have recently encountered a massive drop in FPS when playing games like League of Legends, Dota 2, and Guild Wars 2. A week ago I had no problems but now I drop as low as 5-15. Adjusting the in game graphics does not speed it up either. I have tried all of the following

Keep your video drivers up to date
Change in-game settings
Reset your graphics card software
Repair corrupt game files
Clean your system registry
Defragment your hard drive

I'm running windows 7
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2400 CPU @ 3.10Ghz (4 CPUs)
4096MB Ram
DirectX 11
GeForce GTX 460

If anyone has any suggestions please help

Solution
Yeah it could be broken.

Because looking at that, your CPU is hitting 90C+ when gaming and in the 70-80C range when at idle. GPU temps look okay.

This definitely is the reason for your slowdowns while gaming. Get it fixed as soon as you can! You may be risking permanent damage to the CPU hardware if you keep using your PC.

I'm not all that concerned with the technicalities of having a high end computer
I'd much rather enjoy a solution

So, did you check the temperatures?

gtx460 is decent for medium gaming so i dont think that might be a problem. Maybe ur temps are off the charts during gaming and due u this u may experience overall lag of the system. check ur cpu temps during gaming sessions and if its above 80 then it might be a problem.

I posted a picture of it just running chrome in the comment above
It seems to be a heat issue
Does this mean that a fan is broken or clogged? Because it ran fine a week ago

check ur heatsink for clogged dust and clean ur fan. Apply a new layer of thermal paste and fix the heatsink properly so that it does not wobble. If ur overclocking, better buy a new cooler like a liquid cooler or a new heatsink like cooler master hyper 212x.

^Definitely do that as soon as you can, OP.
