Balanced vs Performance mode

I wanted to do a mild OC on my processor, but I wasn't sure if I should have high performance mode on, or balanced mode on. Which one would be best?

while overclocking, stress testing and generally evaluating your (thermal)performance and results or just gaming you should have it on high performance. balanced means when actually max performance isnt needed cpu will downclock to save energy!
