Hello,

I am running Q6600 on DP45SG. Stock fan.

The cpu temps using Hwinfo and real temp are around 50 C idle and 62 C under stress - average temps on all cores.

Fan speed is stable around 1120 rpm on idle but .. I have noticed that sometimes the fan speed suddenly increases to 2200 rpm .. it happens very very rarely .. like say may be once in two days or such, but when it happens, the fan stays 2200ish rpm for 10 mins .. the temp jumps up to 67 C and then everything is normal again ..when this is happening, its not necessary that system is under load, twice it happened when system was on idle .. now when this is happening, there is no problem to system or such or slow down or such if i am using the system either , I noticed it accidentally because of a bit of increased fan noise when it happened and kept an eye on it .. I cleaned the cabinet just to be sure, but anyways there was not much of dust in there.. I wonder if it is something sinister .. how much rpm can stock fan support? or why is this happening? and what all more info i need to add to this post?

Well if the RPM of the fan suddenly increases without you doing anything, there is something in the background using CPU power that increases the temperature.

I monitored it for last 8 hrs, it did not happen .. should I just ignore it? do you think its some problem or its normal?

I suspect it could be Windows Update or MSE performing schedules.
