hey guys first off i am rocking a FX 8320 and i have a question. when i am overclocking the cpu my pc cycles on and off twice after i save and exit the bios and then boots fine. I was wondering if this is normal or am i doing something wrong.

AMD FX 8320
Gigabyte 990fx UD3 MOBO revision 4.0
2x4 gb Hyperx 1600 Ram
HIS R9 270X boost 2gb
corsair cx600 psu
H100i water cooling

also i am getting somewhat stabel OC of 4.5ghz at 1.38V @ 30 degress C. the thing is it is throttling once every few minutes. any suggestions are welcome.
thanks guys

I'd imagine maybe the psu causing the throttle. That or it may need to be bumped up a little in the voltages. CX series aren't the high quality psus.

would the psu also cause the power cycling after bios setup? the thing is this only happens when i and OCing. @the stock settings there are no problems.

The CX Series Power supplies are meant for budget\office builds and should not be used for overclocking , they have poor capacitors.

Hi! I have the exact motherboard and know exactly what you are saying. The on/off cycle happens when you change either of the power saving options or turn off turbo core or basically just change ANYTHING other than stock settings? From what I have picked up on the world of Google is that it's a common thing with this boards. There is some speculation that it's a built in feature so if there anything wrong with you OC settings it can kick back to stock bios settings. Other people have said that that's the boards way of syncing the new settings..I have my doubts on that one though.

In any case. I have to buy a new power supply anyway in order to SLI another gigabyte gtx 780 oc edition. So I can let you know if I STILL have a double boot issue..saves you buying one for no reason eh? Lol

Oh an in regards to your overclock settings..have you turned off APM In the bios? That is what controls your 125W TDP and works with your turbocore... (clocking down other cores to boost ones in high work loads) In my experience, turning that off will give me a steady clock rate in prime95. Let me know if it works for you too!
