I have a dell precision m6700 workstation. My GPU has been working fine for the past 6 months when all of a sudden games that I could play on ultra in 1920 x 1080 I can barely play on low settings (Skyrim and Bordlerlands 2). I'm not familiar with GPU throttling and I don't know how to check to see if that is the reason why my GPU isn't working like it is supposed to. I have also upgraded from windows 7 home premium to windows 7 ultimate. And I have updated all of my drivers to their newest versions. I have downloaded MSI afterburner and played skyrim while it was running. Like I said I don't know how to check if it is actually throttling issues.

PC Specs:

i7 3940XM 3.2GHz

Quadro K5000M 4gb

32 GB DDR3 RAM

1 Terabyte HDD 1 512GB SSD (Windows installed on SSD)

(Don't ask why I use a Workstation GPU -.-)

One last thing, how do I change the settings on MSI afterburner to improve the GPUs abilty in gaming?

Many Thanks

You should stick with just one thread, not make multiple.

Anyways for MSI Afterburner, it has a monitor on the right side you can check. You can also go into settings on the program, go to the monitor section, and enable on screen monitoring which will let you see the clock speed as you play. You will know it is throttling if the number is lower than it should be, and you are getting under 60FPS.

Like I said in the other thread, this is a software issue. It is possible you have a build up of heat or dust which can cause throttling, but given the time ith appened software seems more likely.
