Well, as the title says, i could either get 8gb of RAM and a GTX770 or 16gb and a GTX780
The main use for this build will be gaming, and video editing

Thanks in advance!

Alright, sooo, which one 8gb and 770, or 16gb and 780
How much better is the 780?

If you are only using it for gaming and not video editing. Go for 8gb + GTX 780. You will be wasting money on paying for the 16gb. You will notice a good difference between the 760 and 770.

As the rest of the guys say, go with 8GB RAM. 16GB RAM is overkill as most games nowadays, and probably in the near future, won't go over 6GB.
On the aspect of the graphics card, 780 is vastly superior. It has more shaders (2,304 vs 1,536) and a significantly wider bandwidth (384-bit), among other things. So, the 780 will beat 770 in every game you play. However if you plan to game at 1080p or lower then a 4GB 770 will do you just fine because it is on higher resolutions that the 780's processing power truly makes a difference.

The GTX 780 is better than the r9 290. However the GTX 780 is more expensive. It is only a tiny difference but there is quite a gap between the price of them. r9 290 is better value for money.

That gap is less then 100$ in my country. Still 780 has lower temperatures, much less noise, use less power, and it is just better. Also nVidia driver support is better.

I am saying facts. Msi gaming edition is really not much more expensive then 290,and it runs MUCH cooler. On guru3d.com temperature never went over 60C and 290 has maximum temperature of 94C. Almost enough to boil water. Also it make MUCH more noise, over 50db and Msi 780 makes only 38. Also it consume 250W maximum power and 290 MORE(not sure how). Then gtx 780 on 1080p will give you 5-10fps more per game, which is great. Nvidia has better driver support.
So stop being a bitch and accept that Nvidia win this time. I am not fan boy I just like nVidia more because thier products runs cooler, make less noise, and use less power. Nvidia cards cost more(50$-100$ more),
280-760,
280x-770,
290-780,
290x-780ti

As you see each Nvidia card cost more but it will also give you more perfomance. So yea,I will go with Nvidia almost any time, until AMD becomes better.

You are just being stupid. And you will get better perfomance. Also most of games are better on nVidia and nVidia really have better driver support. It will not rip you off,you get what you pay for. And if you overclock your card Nvidia is clear winner here. How can you overclock card that is running on 94C under heavy load? You will just melt it LOL.
Gtx 780 is winner here, and don't write anything if you don't have proof to support what are you saying. I can send you few links and you can check that everything I said is true. If it is not then tomshardware and guru3d are liars ;)

There is no need to argue, no matter what in the world not everyone will agree to something; that is why there is war in the world. This person has asked "8gb of RAM and a GTX770 or 16gb and a GTX780?", where do you see in that r9 290? He does not ask about any other gpu. So many topics end up being an argument between AMD vs Nvidia or AMD vs Intel. Everyone has their own opinions and they will do what they want.
