I am going to upgrade my pc but i don't really want to upgrade my graphics card because i was fine with it playing most games, im doing this upgrade mostly because my motherboard died, so i will upgrade the mother and my processor with an i7-4770k 3.5 ghz, also gona throw 16 gb of ram.

My old graphics card is a 9800 gtx plus, but i don't really have the money nor do i had any problems with it to begin.

So could i have any troubles if i don't upgrade?

mother!?! The abbreviation you're looking for is 'mobo'

I would suggest upgrading the parts that need to be upgraded and going from there - you'll soon know if a new GPU is required as well

I would buy an i5 cpu and upgrade the graphics card. You will not have any problems running the old one, but it does not run DX11 so a new card would give a better visual display and have more power to turn more effects on , higher resolution etc.

Well im sorry for my missuse of words, my main langaje isnt english.

In general im gona upgrade my mobo(ASUS B85-PLUS, ChipSet Intel B85) ,my processor (an i7-4770k 3.5 ghz) and my ram (16 gb from 4 gb).

I had and old AMD phenom and a mobo (that died).

Im mostly dont want to upgrade the graphics card because i dont have the money, but also because im pretty sure better cards are going to come out with the next gen and i would prefer to wait and get money and buy a better one later.

'mobo' - entirely forgiven, just trying to point you in the right direction

To me this is an entirely sensible approach - if your current graphics card does well enough in the games you play, then why upgrade it?

As to what CPU etc to go for, this really depends on what you're going to be doing, but as has been mentioned above, an i5 is a great place to start - I would make sure to get a mobo with Sata 3 (6Gbs) and USB 3, and to be honest 8Gb of RAM will likely be enough

Yes that is my point of view also, i was really good with my pc even knowing it wasnt great anymore (it was a long time ago) but i knew i was going to be fine with the newer games just lowering the settings to med+low, im waiting for the new DA inquisition and The new witcher 3, yesterday i was playing "Divinity original sin" fine, so i only dont want to have troubles if i dont upgrade etc.

With my old pc i also emulated some wii games thats why im going for a better cpu also because emulation is more cpu oriented. But i never really have any troubles with normal pc games, newer games i know i had to turn down settings, or really heavy games like the witcher 2 (still i could play that on high but not with uber sampling, not that i needed).

Well an i5 will be a huge step up from a Phenom... The i7 won't add much over the i5 unless your emulation software makes really good use of multiple cores, as the key advantage of the i7 over the i5 is hyperthreading

Usually emulators take advantage of having multiple cores yes, depends on the emulator but the good ones have support for multiple cores since they are pretty much needed.

You know im gona stay with my card and see what happens what could be the worst case scenario?, i mean if anything things should go better with that cpu and that much ram, i really want to get a new graphics card but a really powerful one and i dont have the money right now, and i dont really think its needed right now for the games that are out on the market or the ones comming out soon, but i will eventually need to upgrade it next year for sure.

You will be fine for a year or so i guess. in graphics dependent games the graphics card will be a bottleneck for CPU.

It's not just about wattage - the most important thing is to buy a god one - hav a look at this list:

http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-1804779/power-...

... And yes, unless you're gonna run dual graphics cards, 700W will be stacks

Buying a cheap psu for a decent pc is like putting discount tires on a racing car.
Suggesting buying a cheap power supply unit on this forum after asking sensible questions is like putting a traffic cone on your head with 'idiot' written on it.
Do not expect any sympathy when it goes 'pop'.
Buy an XFX pro core unit. They really arent that expensive.
I for one do not answer questions from people who 'bought a cheap power supply; please help! !'. .

If you use the cheap power supply, if it overloads because of bad efficeny it can have a bad voltage regulator and kill your new i7. Seriosuly, don't invest in a cheap psu.... Buy atleast the corsair hx series or something like an xfx or seasonic or a corsair high quality or somethin

Or you could come back here when you have no money and a broken pc and write the post;
'I dont have any money but I want 60 FPS on Watch Dogs'..
(have case and dodgy power suplpy, plze help')

Just to re-iterate the point (in case it hasn't been stated clearly enough already) - the problem with buying a cheap PSU (aside from risking system instability) is that when it breaks (and no PSU lasts forever) there's a fair chance it will take other parts of your system with it - so as well as needing a new PSU, you might then need a new motherboard etc... It can be VERY costly

I find myself thinking of the story Jesus told about building a house on sand....

Just get a good xfx 550 watt or seasonic 520w. No need to translate, lol.

Well im going to make an update, i changed the psu because all i read about that psu i was going to get was really bad, some dude on this forums said he had to change it 3 times in a row because it burned while he was playing, i choose instead a Cooler Master GX II 750w, trust me it was the best i could get where im buying it and since my last pc had also a 750w cooler master (another model) which still works after maybe 6 years i kind of trust this better.

Thank you, i think im doing the right thing i would have gotten a better psu if i could but like i said that was the best i could get there, im from Mexico btw, so, its really more difficult to get all the goodies i would like to get.

Unfortunately i will have to wait more time to get all my stuff because of the change i made to the psu, well i guess thats another ps2 week...
