You should be able to install just about any version on just about any machine, as long as your product keys are valid, if it's a version that requires product keys.

You have a system builder license that is a license where the builder builds the machine to sell to someone else. Then you have a personal license where the builder is building a computer for themselves or upgrading from an OS prior to Windows 8.
