Hello

I've recently made the swap over from AMD to Intel.
Purchased the new i7 4790k with an Asus Maximus VII Hero board.

All stock settings on CPU,
and Stock cooler
on Idle CPU is running 53C
and on Prime95 running a blend test I got into the 90s before I stopped the test.

My old cpu rarely hit 50C and ran idle in the 30Cs, so the strikes me odd.

I've tried reseating the cooler to make sure that wasn't the issue.
And reapplied thermal paste.

Should I be concerned and return this ?
Maybe adjusting voltage in mobo ?

Also is it normal that all the cpu core temps bounce around ?

Thanks

Yeah, the stock Intel coolers are crap. Amd actually makes better stock coolers, which is kinda odd.

Your best bet is to spend about 30 dollars and get a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo. Solid cooler, won't set you back a ton of money, and would do well for a basic overclock if that is your wish.

Turned off turbclock, increased stock heatsink fan to turbo, and updated bios until I can get a 212 Evo. Same situation runnin around 60C.
Fingers crossed I didn't get a faulty CPU

While you wait for the Evo, downclock the cpu so it creates less heat.
