Hey I'm thinking of purchasing the i7 4770k and the Sapphire R9 290 to beef up a new gaming rig!

questions?

will this be future proof 3-5 years down the row?
can it play 4k video?
power supply recommendations and how to calculated?
and computer case recommendation ill be happy with anything below $100 and that you can see the inside?

thanks for all your help :)

Base it on an Asus mother board. Their quality may end up saving you a lot of frustration. You don't want to end up firing your new build out the nearest window.

And I'd go for the new i7-4790K, better thermal paste under the IHS and higher default clock speed.

thanks for the fast input. about the cpu I'm getting as a bundle with the gpu from a friend is a money saving deal for me. I already have the msi z97 pc mate motherboard but idk if is a good fit. what asus board would you recommend please something in the $70-150 range.

That MSI board is about $200. So you'll be fine with it.
Just didn't want to see the best CPU and GPU fitting into a cheap(under $100) board.
