built a computer last summer with my son. Neither are experts by any means, but this one has us stumped. So after installing the blu ray optical drive my fans won't turn or any initial jump to the system whatsoever. Have quadruple checked all wires, and removed the blu ray, and still nada. any answers?

It is most likely the psu, what model psu is it? and what components do you own in that system?
If you can try another psu in your pc and see if it works, that way we will know if it's that psu or not.
