Hi guys I have a computer gateway dx4840 .. Its almost 5 years old and I am basically upgrading everything. I am buying all this from newegg canada

Ripjaws ram X series 2X4 GB sticks for 90$
sapphire radeon dual X r9 270 2gb for 180$
xfx ts series 550W psu for 69$
msi interceptor gaming mouse 30$
windows 7 OS (software) 100$
antivirus software 25$
this plus shipping adds p to total; 550$

This fits my budget and I am willing to pay this price but on a second thought I see this as expensive. Is it expensive or is it worth it? Should I instead buy a new computer?

Also if any of you see any of these for a lesser price plz do tell me.

More about : expensive alrigth

I wouldn't spend money upgrading it. Do you know whether a R9 270 will actually fit in the case? Or whether it has a power supply that can run it?

Yes it is able to fit I think. I have done the measurnments. Why do u think the gpu wont fit? Also since I am upgrading the gpu I have to upgrade the psu too. Do u think its wise to spend this much money on this computer?

when you decide to change the whole pc it is wise to sell the old one and then buy the new one

Follow the advise my friend, is not really worth to upgrade that museum piece. You can build a decent system for like 500$.

I am unable to find out the model of the motherboard to check memory compatibility. So unless you post it here, I suggest to either do not replace the RAM or buy a new motherboard that have the same socket.

The other items are fine, I do not see any problem. But my opinion still, you are wasting money.

Well - for a start - use Avast free (from CNET) anti virus - saved you $25 straight off.

You don't say what the ram is - 2 x 4gb, 1600 or 1866? Is it compatible with your motherboard?

Whys such an expensive mouse? Get one for under $10. Wired, optical.

You gotta check if the power supply and graphics card are going to fit your case.

Also check prices at NCIX

If you have already 8GB of memory you do not need to upgrade that. Just upgrade graphics and PSU.

I do not know it, I personally bough a Razer DeathAdder 2013. Yes, is a fancy overpriced mouse, but I was tired to deal with HP office blocky mouses. You have to look a mouse with a good polling rate to have the best precission.

If it is not listed it means is a regular one. But anyways is not a bad mouse, you can go for it without worries. That does not mean there are better deals, but i7Baby can help you on that.
