Screen goes black but the backlight is still on if i stop playing games?

Its a strange situation, sometimes when i play games, i alt tab and watch youtube etc... but if i quit the game, then watch youtube, 5 or so mins later, teh screen goes black, with the back light still on, specs are below

OS: 8.1 64bit
CPU: AMd fx 6300
GPU: R9 280x
RAM: 8gb
PSU: 800w
HDD: WD RED 3tb
Mobo: ASROCK 970 extreme4

Please... its so annoying and... scary, i need to have games like Path of Exile run int he background so i can browse the internet...

I have the latest 14.7 drivers for AMD...

it may be a problem of overheating of the processor or gpu....dying motherboard.. so run prime 95 for 20 min ro so for the cpu testing and furmark for about the same time for gpu testing and see if the black screen appears in either of the two ...if black scrren happens in testing with prime 95 then your cpu is overheating nad if furmark then its the gpu...
