This is a brand new PC build, and I'm brand new to building. I could not get my PC to boot up at all, power button did nothing. I did briefly manage to get a fan to turn on by manually using the motherboard, not the case's power switch. That only happened once. Then, I saw something on another thread, so I turned off my power supply, held the power button down, and turned the power supply back on. That worked, and now my PC will boot up normally, but the power button won't turn it off, I have to switch it off with the power supply. When it is on, I hook it into my monitor via HDMI and I have no visuals. Anyone have any ideas? Sorry if this is obvious or stupid, like I said I'm new to building. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Well my cable is definitely in the right spot, I've checked it multiple times, and flipped it around too. I don't think that matters with the power switch cable, but I tried it anyway. So, if my case power button is probably faulty, do you have any ideas about the visual output?

My computer is definitely not booting on at all. The fans in case turn on. All of those are connected to the motherboard. Also, the cpu, gpu, and psu fans all turn on, but my computer shows no sign of booting

okk then try this remove every cable connection form the psu to your board ....remove ram, processor, hdd cables ,dvd drive cables, gpu, your bios battery for 5 min..and ground yourself by touching some metal before doing it .....then after that reset everything.. try this out...

Alright so I breadboarded my pc, and connected components one at a time. That didn't seem to do anything, so I decided today reset my heats ink again. I bought some arctic silver thermal paste, removed my heatsink for a third time, and removed all of the stock thermal paste. I then added new thermal paste and reseated my heatsink. I also connected my graphics card to a different monitor, and bam. Everything is up and running now. Thanks for the help everyone!
