Hi
I currently own an upgraded Dell 630i, I have replaced the Motherboard for a Gigabyte Z77, an Intel I 7 processor, 32Gb sniper Ram, GTX 650ti GPU & 2x ssd dives. The only original equipment being the case and the original Dell 750W psu.
This week I purchased a Gigabyte GTX 780 ti GHZ GPU which once installed causes my system to crash, my suspicion pointed to the PSU which I decided to upgrade. Now the fun starts, I bought a Corsair RM850, installed it and the PC refuses to power on absolutely nothing works. I reconnected the original Dell PSU and everything works as normal. I took the PC to Maplin to have the new PSU checked & they could find nothing amiss with the new PSU, they even tried other variants in the shop all with the same result.
Any ideas anyone, my research shows the Dell 24 & 8 pin MB connections are standard ATX connections with no special requirements, can anyone shed some light on this??

I suspect you're not getting a lot of replies because, as you said, it SHOULD work. Having used the RM750, my initial advice would be to double check the seating at both ends of all of your power cables, including the main PSU power cable from the wall. When I first installed mine I had the same issue. You really have to grrr the connectors into the PSU to ensure a good connection, although they get easier as you break them in. Even with the retention latch engaged, sometimes they're not fully seated.

Quantity and quality of power shouldn't be an issue - I used the RM750 with GTX 770 SLI with no issues, so the 850 with a single card is plenty of wattage and amperage.

That should be enough for a build with the gtx 780 ti,Do the pcie connectors come from two cables or more? I imagine it has four of these. With two cables with both two connectors could you use one connector of each to get power for the gpu from more than one rail (i'm guessing that these two cables (?) are on different rails).

This,

maybe they connected the "power good" and "power on" wires differently, but this is just a guess.
is probably a stupid guess.:pfff:

Strange though that no other psu will work. This is what i gather from you're first post.

sometimes the simplest mistakes take longer to recognise as mine was:)In my case i had not turned on the PSU switch :( .check for such simple issues .I dont think there is a problem with pins as such,ATX is common for most mobos.Check if the power is supplied to all working components mainly the CPU .also check the PLUG point connection if ur switch board really support it:)
hope it helps
