I have just upgraded my PC to the following components:
ASUS P97-Deluxe motherboard (without NFC and WFC)
Intel i7 4790K processor
ASUS Direct II CU TOP R9-280X graphics card
Thermaltake Toughpower 80 Gold 850W power supply

I have retained 3 Samsung 1TB hard drives, 1 Western Digital 200GB hard drive, and a Samsung DVD-ROM drive.

All power cables are connected correctly to the motherboard and graphics card, all SATA cables are connected to the 6GB/s port on the motherboard and to my hard drives, and the front panel is connected also.

I am able to load up the BIOS, but when attempting to boot Windows it crashes on the "Starting Windows" screen with the coloured logo fly-in.
I believe this is as a result of the motherboard driver, and have been attempting to boot from my Windows install disc in order to do a system repair with the new motherboard driver on a USB stick.

However, I continuously get a "Power I/O error" after the Windows install disc shows the "Windows is loading required files" progress bar, and I am unable to continue from there. It mentions that possible causes are a faulty hard drive/disc drive or an external drive being removed during use.
I can get Windows System Repair to come up and run through it's processes, but it cannot find a solution and kicks me back to the beginning every time.

Any insights that this forum can offer would be extremely appreciated.

Dear Skotavus,
I Vaguely remember watching a youtube video by explaining computers about replacing a graphics card, and apparently you have to uninstall the old drivers before replacing the parts and then installing new ones when you put in the new ones. Just search up in Youtube: Upgrading Graphics card explaining computers. I hope this is helpful!

All new parts with the old drive and OS?
Often, that does not work. Even System Repair might not work.

Clean install with the new hardware.

But just to test the hardware, can you boot and run from a different boot CD, like a Linux LiveCD?

No, I am unable to boot Hirens's BootCD with my current disc drive. I get YooYoo (y-infinity x2) coming up when attempting to boot said disc.

I have now tried removing the SATA cables from my hard drives and booting purely from the disc drive, which also causes the I/O error; and removing the SATA cable from my disc drive and booting solely from my hard drive, which still causes Windows to crash on startup.

My current aim is to refit my old hardware into a case and place my hard drives and disc drive back into it - if the old hardware's drivers still work, perhaps I can update the drives before switching back to my new parts?
