Hello,

I've made my own build for a Gaming PC.

Performance/Price ratio is what I'm looking for.
I live in Europe (France, to be precise), so the price differs from the ones on pcpartpicker.

This is what I came up with : http://pcpartpicker.com/user/sidneyl/saved/ccyqqs

However, I want to change the motherboard.
For the processor, I'm going to take the AMD FX9370.
The compatible motherboard on the list is the Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3.
But what I wanted to use was the ASRock 970 Pro3 R2.0
(saw compatibility through : http://www.pc-specs.com/cpu/AMD/FX/FX-9370/1876/Compatible_Motherboards )

-So, I'm asking: Can the ASRock motherboard can replace the Gigabyte motherboard in that list?

(despite of the fact that PcPartPicker is telling me that the build "might have compatibility issues").

Thank you.

Solution
No its a difrent chipset, my guess is that FX 9370 needs 990fx chipset while asrock has 970 chipset.

And if u wanna game, my personal opinion is to go for intel.

Thanks for the advice.
I'm going to go with the 990fx chipset as you tell me to.

For the processor, I'm going to stick with the AMD, even though Intel is better gaming-wise.
Just basic comparison that for the same price Intel gives me 3.5GHz (3,9 with boost) whereas AMD gives me 4,4GHz(4,7 with boost).

yeah, you only see whats in the surface. Intel i5 4690k 3.5ghz 3.9 boost outperforms the 5ghz one. Its not what it looks like. Amd have shared caches etc.. while intel has unique for each core. Its advanced stuff which i dont know, but i dig once to find out what is worth and intel is all the way mate.

Okay then I'll take notice and ask a hardware specialist for an explanation.
And I'll reconsider my choice.

Thanks mate.

My ascension is nigh. See you in the PcMasterRace
