Hi everyone,

I would like to know if it is possible to connect a laptop to a home theater using a dual mode DisplayPort. However, my home theater is a bit old therefore there is no hdmi plug: is there some kind of adaptor to go out my pc with the DisplayPort and in the home theater with a digital (optical) plug ?
I don't want to use the jack plug on my pc as the exit since I believe that sound will be better using the DisplayPort, but I may be wrong.

Thanks in advance for your help !

If your are using your laptop to play HD movies with Bluray losslessaudio codecs then the optical will degrade the sound if your HT supports them. For regular Dolby Digital/DTS the optical should be fine.
You can use an adapter like this one:

if you want to connect your laptop with HDMI.
