So I am looking at two specific builds over here

Intel Build:
i7 4770k
EVGA GTX 770 4gb Edition

AMD Build:
FX 8350 (Unlocked)
EVGA GTX 780 6gb Edition

Should I go for an overkill graphic card but sacrifice on CPU or vice versa

(Not saying the gtx 770 is bad)

I am going to use this solely for gaming
and not going to upgrade at until 5 years.

Please Help me!

Neither. Go with an i5-4690K + GTX 780.

As above poster said, go for an intel 4670k and a 3GB GTX 780. A gig more VRAM than the 770 and a much more powerful card. I have the SC ACX cooled 780s by EVGA...highly recommend them (and their one of the cheapest 780s on Amazon). GL friend!

8350 and a R9 290, the new consoles being AMD 8 core and Mantle mean that AMD is starting to be even more viable :)

The i5 might be in front of the AMD 8 core now but wouldn't bet on that once developers start optimising for AMD more, they are bound to do this with the new consoles architecture.

if thats true then i would say buy a i7[this is will be still relevant then] with ati radeon hd260x

save the money and buy another graphics card after one-two year. then buy another one. this way you will be still able to play most games.

i am almost quite sure that you probably wont be able to play new games with gtx780 after four years. And even technology might change such transition from directx 11 to 12 bla bla bla

The 290x is not worth the extra money over the 290, would not consider crossfire to be honest, scaling is hit and miss, frame timings are off.

The best single card you can afford is always the best bet, that being said SLi is much better than croosfire.

You sure? I know you were right a few years ago but there's been big advances in drivers both red and green.

Crossfire is still hit and miss, really depends on game support and driver optimisation, I would rather have one card than two :)
