Hello all,

I'm just working through an upgrade build and am having problems getting the machine to POST properly. I did read through the sticky at the top of the forum regarding some first things to check and verified that I hadn't overlooked anything silly.

This is also not my first build.

When I power the system up, fans come on and the sub-system LEDs light up and then go out (as they should) with the exception of the memory light. (The motherboard manual says each LED is lit as system boots and only the LEDs for components with problems stay lit). The memory light comes on for a short period, then goes out, then comes on again briefly before going out again. I never get a display signal out to the monitor and obviously no visible BIOS.

The memory came with a big sticker on the front (compatible with Z97 chipset). The motherboard manual shows the same type of memory is compatible in a 4 x 4 Gb config. I assumed that the 2 x 4 Gb config I have chosen should work just fine.

As the boot sequence occurs, the motherboard displays several QCodes before it shutsdown and starts the process all over again. The last visible Qcode before the system cycles is 65. This goes on forever until I kill the power at the power supply.

System components:

z97 Pro Mobo (new from Newegg)
i7 4790k (new from Newegg)
G.Skill RipJawsX F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL (2 x 4 Gb) (new from Newegg)
Antec True Power 550 (from previous build)
Currently using the on-board display option

I've re-seated the memory, cpu and checked all my connections. I've removed my HD5870 just to keep the system simple to try and isolate the problem.

I'm stumped. Any other thoughts or ideas?
