Hi people, I'm not to good with this stuff but I'm really interested to see if I can enhance my internet speed for gaming on ps3. I have a virgin super-hub (the first model) and a wired connection from the super-hub to my ps3. My connection is fine but I really want to have a competitive edge and have top notch connection. How can I get the absolute best setup? I've heard that the Virgin super-hub is bad for wireless connection but I don't know if that's going to mean my wired connection is suffering as well. I just feel I can get a better connection and I'm really interested in finding out any way i can improve my setup.

Solution
Well, you have to get a good speed from your ISP first.

Local connection speeds are usually the least of your worries, as any wired connection is just about faster than any connection your get from your ISP.

James I have a good speed from virgin media I have 80 download speed and a good ping of less than 20. I'm wondering if I can improve my connection of I do something like putting my superhub into modem mode and connecting another router to it. Will that increase my wired connection speed or not? I'm looking for suggestions that I can use to improve my speeds

Have you tried contacting virgin support about what you can do?

I don't 100% understand what you have hardware wise, but it sounds like you have a router/modem combo. It's possible if you make it a dedicated modem and then buy a router you'll get better connection speeds.

But you'll also be hampered by things out of your control, like distance to the PS3 servers.
