Computer Freezes Briefly During Games

Once every hour or so, my computer locks up for about 5-10 seconds while playing games. I use voice chat programs and that does not stop. The background music on the game does not stop either. Does this sound like my graphics card is going bad to you guys? I am not sure what is causing this.

Sounds like your harddrive went to sleep and is spinning back up to deliver requested data?
Which specific harddrive do you have?

The game I am playing is located on the SSD that my OS is on, but you are right. There is an HDD on my computer that sleeps and wakes up periodically. Is there a setting to keep it from sleeping?

Note: This hdd always cycles in and out of sleep. I have had this setup for 8 months

EDIT: Found plenty of posts on how to do it
