I have three monitors, but only two work at the same time.

1 DVI dual link at 1920*1080
1 HDMI at 1920*1080
1 DVI single link at 1440*900

My card SHOULD be able to handle 3 monitors without using an active display port... "supports up to 3 display monitor(s) without DisplayPort
4 x Maximum Display Monitor(s) support"

I have ordered an active display port adapter to see if it will remedy this, but I remain doubtful. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00433C5Y4/ref=oh_de...

Any help?

EDIT:
It works on ubuntu... why

If your CPU has iGPU then you can plug one into your motherboard.

this is how I do it.
2x 7950's to the 1440p and the 2x 1080p monitors into the motherboard.

My motherboard is the asus m5a97 r2.0 and has no video ports. I can only use the 4 ports (2 DVI, HDMI, display port) on my video card.

Connecting multiple monitors for AMD Eyefinity technology couldn’t be simpler. There are four easy rules to remember:
The first two monitors can connect to the graphics card with any display output on your product: HDMI, VGA, DVI or DisplayPort.

The third (or greater) display must be connected to the graphics card via DisplayPort.

If your monitor does not have a DisplayPort connection, you will need an inexpensive active DisplayPort adapter for it.DVI to DP adapters can be had for less than $30 USD.2

I will keep checking to see if I can find this info on amd's website again.

I thought your premise was correct also.

the search continues

If you just want all three generally (not in Eyefinity), I would try turning the computer and all monitors off, then turning the computer on and waiting for it to boot. Then turning all three monitors on. Then going to "Screen Resolution" in the Control Panel and hitting "Detect".

I have ordered an adapter from Amazon: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00433C5Y4/ref=oh_de...

It should work without eyefinity and the displayport. I have tried turning the monitors off and rebooting, but it did not work. I'll try again soon.

Hi. Did you figure this out as I have had exact same problem? I also ordered the DP adapter but the system still wont work. AMD CCC can see all monitors but it will only allow 2 monitors running at same time with "To extend the desktop, a desktop or display must be disabled." ultimately only allowing me two displays at a time. All the above setup is exactly the same.

Edit: I figured out why my Display Port adaptor wont work. I need an "Active" Display Port Adaptor, which is different from just a cheap adaptor.
