Hi guys,
Been looking around for motherboard. i had my eye on maximus vii formula, but it seems like it's going to be way over my budget. my budget is around £250.
Purpose of the pc will be to play games and light video/photo editing.
Will go for i5 now and when broadwell comes about, i'm planning to go for i7-k.
i've been looking into;
asus maximus vii hero
gigabyte gt
gigabyte g1
i've been recommended asus boards by my friends, but gigabyte seems pretty good too.
(Pc theme will be red and black)
Thanks a lot guys.

Another good option would be the MSI Gaming 5 Z97: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-motherboard-z97gaming5. It has that color scheme that you are looking for and still is a pretty good mobo

At that price range it's hard to go wrong. The MSI Gaming Z97 motherboards look amazing. The Hero VII is quiet good for overclocking apparantly. Asus SABERTOOTH Z97 MARK 1 seems good as well. Good score on newegg and has "Armour".

What about the MII? It still looks as good as the MI but is updated

I guess so. Nothing can go wrong with an upgrade. It's the flagship anyway so I doubt it could be worse than the predecessor.

Well if that is your criteria then better stick with Asus Z97-A or Z97 Sabertooth Mark-I

If you go with a performance SSD, wouldn't a PCI-E one perform better anyways? (I do believe that they are more expensive though)

many have said hero is bang for buck plus more, only issue is, lack of sata express. but will i need it? not sure, as i'll be using ssd as a primary storage. i havent looked into sabertooth mark 1. know it exist but not looked deep into it. will check it out.
thanks for the reply

Any idea when maximus vii formula is coming out? they said july last time i checked. price leak said £340, but it seem too much for formula considering it's older version, vi formula. it has all i need plus want.

Formula VII is expected in Q3 of 2014. This Q has started so you can wait a bit longer. Better send an email to Asus and ask them about the release date.
